Mountain Climbing v. Rock Climbing

Even though mountain climbing and rock climbing both involve climbing, they are drastically different. Both sports require strength, stamina and the proper tools. They are extremely dangerous and fatal accidents could occur with both. However, the two sports are really different.
Mountain climbing
Mountain climbing is when you hike over large and treacherous mountains. Oftentimes, mountain climbing may include a little more upper body work and you may need to pull yourself up steeper trails. It also is not unlikely for a mountain climber to experience a little skiing in extremely tall and dangerous mountains. Most people who enjoy the sport of mountain climbing enjoy hiking glaciers and trekking through the snow. Many excursions can last for several days with camps set along the trail.
Rock climbing
Rock climbing involves scaling or climbing large rock formations. Unlike mountain climbing, you are using most of your upper body to pull yourself up these formations. You also have to use a variety of special pieces of climbing equipment to ensure your safety when participating in this sport. One wrong move and you could fall to a severe injury, or even death, so it is imperative you are safe and prepared. Rock climbing trips often are not as long as mountain climbing adventures but they are just as demanding and as much endurance, stability and strength is needed.
No matter whether you choose mountain climbing or rock climbing, both offer excellent health benefits and a thrill. Both sports require a little preparation beforehand and you must familiarize yourself with the tools and techniques used for safety reasons. They both deserve attention and are great sports with excellent benefits.
